Mental health is a hard subject to talk about sometimes. 1 in 5 Americans suffers from some type of mental health illness. It also affects young adults and is on the rise.
This subject is really important to me. Especially when it comes to depression and anxiety.
If you suffer from depression know that you’re not alone. Depression is nothing to be ashamed of. At different times in my life, I’ve dealt with depression myself. I have friends and family that have dealt with this regularly.
It is not something you should take lightly. Get some help, talk to a friend. Do not let anyone tell you to brush it off. Remember you are strong, you will get through this.

I have been diagnosed with Anxiety. It has become worse since I had my son almost 3 years ago.
Having a medically complex child does not do well with my anxiety. I am constantly worried about his well being and his health.
I also suffer from social anxiety. That is a whole different story.
You know yourself if you feel anxious and restless all the time it might be time to visit your dr.
I tried medication for a little while. What helps me the most is journaling and talking to family and friends that are supportive and understanding.
Do not feel ashamed for feeling this way, take care of yourself for your mental health.

What helps me get through my anxiety issues is go for a walk, listen to music that uplifts me, or I talk about it. It might not make it completely go away but it definitely helps.

Mental health especially Depression and anxiety hit home for me. It is important to not ignore your mental health. Your physical and mental health go hand in hand. Make sure you are getting plenty of exercises and drink plenty of water.
Get help for yourself but also for your family. Let your family know what you are going through.
The most important thing to remember is to be true to yourself. You know what you like and dislike… These examples are not for everyone. Coping mechanisms are different for everyone, find out what works best for you.
It can be hard to cope sometimes when trauma, stress and other bad things happen. Sometimes you just want to crawl in bed and shut out the world.
It is easier to just give in and give up. It takes true strength to stand up to the issue at hand and face your depression and anxiety head-on. Seek help for your depression and anxiety. Do not wait for the sake of yourself and your family.
